2008 NBHA TX 12 BYLAWS

 

All dist. 12 shows will abide by NBHA national and District 12 rules.  Each member will be provided with a copy of these rules when joining.  Each member is responsible for being familiar with these rules.

-Coggins:Each member should be able to provide proof of a negative coggins test for each horse they bring to the shows.  The Texas Animal Health Commission may hold inspections randomly at any of our shows.

-Newsletter: Our main source of club news and communication will be sent via electronic mail to lower costs or by our web page. Please provide an email address so that you get all important information concerning your membership. If you do not have an email address, please let the Director know that you need your info mailed.

  Any member or participant displaying unruly or unacceptable conduct will be asked to leave the premises immediately. District 12 is a family oriented organization and wishes to keep the environment at our functions safe & fun!

-Members must keep their NBHA membership current.  Should a membership lapse for more than 30 days members will forfeit all work points for the current year.

-Bad Weather: It is your responsibility to contact a representative or director to see if a show has been cancelled due to bad weather.  Rescheduling that show is at the discretion of the director.

Each county in the district will need a county representative to assist in hosting a show in their county. Anyone wishing to head their county needs to contact the District Director.


 

 

ARENA RULES

-Books will remain open until the last 25 riders in the Open.  Youth and Seniors you must be entered before the first horse runs in your class.  The open time will carry over to the youth or senior division, whichever you specify.  You cannot designate your time after you've made your run.

Be sure to fill out the entire entry form when signing up. It is not the club's responsibility for incorrect information. The sign up table will draw for running order.  It is the contestant’s responsibility to keep up with draw numbers and times. NO substitutions will be made without prior approval.

The following NBHA rules will be enforced, with no exceptions:

    1. Non-Members will pay a $10.00 permit fee.
    2. A contestant will be given a “no time” for knocking over a barrel.
    3. NBHA points will be awarded in all classes and divisions on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis for 1st thru 5th place.  If two or more riders tie, the points for tied positions should be added together and divided equally among riders who tied.
    4. NBHA payout will be followed according to NBHA rules.
    5. NBHA Rules Section E Penalties, Disqualifications and Suspensions will be strongly enforced.

Open Barrels: Open will be run in a 4-D format. A minimum of nineteen from each entry fees is to be paid out, there’s a three-dollar office charge, three/four dollars to district awards and/or one dollar to NBHA State Awards when show is sanctioned. The total payout of the entry fees from the class is to be divided as follows:

4D Payout = 35% to the 1-D, 30% to the 2-D, 20% to the 3-D, 15% to the 4-D

The payout breakdown of the Open and Youth 4D are to be the same. See NBHA Rule booklet for further breakdown of payout.

Youth Barrels:  18 & under barrels will be ran in the 4-D format. Sixteen dollars of entry fee will be paid out, there’s a two dollar office charge, three dollars to District Awards and/or one dollar to NBHA State Awards. The state awards fee is taken out before the payout is figured. Age is determined by January 1, 2008

Senior Barrels:  The Senior 3D Barrels (FULL SECOND SPLITS) is 40 & over (age as of Jan.1st, 2008).  District points and awards are kept on 40 & over, however, only 50 & Over may earn Senior points towards World Qualifying in Senior Barrels.

       Sixteen dollars of entry fee will be paid out, there’s a two-dollar office charge, three dollars to District Awards and/or one dollar to NBHA State Awards. The state awards   fee is taken out before the  payout is figured.

There will be a $4 penalty for exhibitions over 60 seconds.

Designate or Carry over times are allowed.  This must be done when the contestant enters the open.  The open time will carry over to the youth or senior division, whichever you specify.  You cannot designate your time after you've made your run.

A contestant will be called to run 3 times. If contestant is not at the alley attempting to enter the arena the contestant will receive a No Time.

Anyone running out of order will receive a No Time, unless called upon by the show staff.

Excessive fowl, rude or vulgar language will result in dismissal from the show and all points will be forfeited for the day.

All contestants entering a class must attempt to make the fastest run possible. Obvious” pulling up” or slowing down your horse in order to pace your competition run/time will NOT be tolerated.  (first offense will be a $20 fine, second offense will be fined + NO TIME)

Excessive turning (more than once) of barrels or poles during a class will result in a $10 fine.  Overworking a turn will mess up the drag for the rest of the class.  We will have ample exhibition time to correct your horse.  Fine will be due immediately after class runs. 

Pen lights (Laser lights) will not be tolerated at any NBHA show.  If member or person traveling with member is caught with one of these lights, it is up to the District Director to decide on the penalty.

Dress Code will be relaxed.  However, please refrain from wearing crop tops or other provocative or distractive clothing.  NO SHORTS ARE ALLOWED WHILE COMPETING.  All contestants must use a western type saddle for their competition run.  No English saddles, and no bareback runs.

No entry fee is refunded unless director deems it necessary per arena conditions.  If for any reason, injured horse or otherwise you need to draw out you must do so BEFORE the first horse runs in your class.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  Otherwise, other refunds will be as director sees fit.

Added Money  All added money will be divided equally in each division.

Late Entries/Call-ins  No contestants are allowed to call in to be entered in a class or exhibitions. Entries must be paid before # is drawn, if the contestant does not make it in time for their run, no entry fees will be refunded.

 

AWARD RULES

No minimum number of shows is required for any class to receive points for NBHA WORLD qualifying purposes!

 

Work points. . . A minimum of 30 work points must be earned

  1. Each member is required to work during 6 shows to qualify for yearend awards. (ex. Setting barrels, checking timer, alley attendant, etc.) Members that are 10 and under are required to have an adult work in their place or be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  2. It is the responsibility of each member to log their work time at the sign up table before leaving.
  3. In the event of a tie for yearend prizes, the member who has the most work points will receive the award.  If there is still a tie winner will be determined in the following order:
    A. The contestant who completed at the most shows will receive the award
    B. Show dates that both contestants competed will be averaged, the fastest time of those shows will receive the award.
    C. Finally, a flip of a coin as last resort.
  4. The District director can allocate points to any member for helping with anything that may not be covered under the by-laws.

 

Work points-Options

Members that cannot get all 6 shows worked and 30 work points have the option to bring in sponsors.

These members must turn in sponsored money 60 DAYS prior to District Finals.

 

 

Point values for example are as follows:

Working a class----------------------1 pt. every 20 riders

Recruit a new member--------------3 pts.

Bring in a sponsor of $50-----------2 pts.

Buckle Sponsor of $250-------------7 pts.

Bring in a sponsor of $500--------15 pts.

Saddle sponsor of $850- $1000-------- All points are taken care of, still required to compete at 6 shows.

 

Any sponsored money will go toward your work points, along with giving the sponsor advertisement throughout our district.
